The British Actor, Orlando Bloom was born in the town of Canterbury in the English county of Kent, in the late 70s. Her portrayal of Legolas in the trilogy The Lord of the Rings has made him known internationally, but his film history is rather extensive and includes many successes.
His Full name is Jonathan Blanchard Bloom, known as Orlando Bloom. He was born January 13, 1977 in UK. Bloom was raised as an Anglican. Bloom began acting professionally in television roles in episodes of Casualty and Midsomer Murders, and subsequently made his big-screen debut in Wilde in 1997, starring Stephen Fry, in which he played a small part, as a rent boy. Just after, he entered the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he studied acting.
Two days after graduating from Guildhall in 1999, was elected to his first major role, playing the prince elf Legolas Greenleaf in the trilogy of The Lord of the Rings (2001 - 2003). In the first instance had auditioned for the role of Faramir, who does not appear until the second movie but the director Peter Jackson instead assigned the role of Legolas, with great weight in all three films. Bloom next starred opposite Keira Knightley and Johnny Depp film Pirates of the Caribbean: the Curse of the Black Pearl, which was a box office hit in the summer of 2003. After the success in this film, Bloom took the role as Paris, the man who effectively started the Trojan War, in the 2004 Spring blockbuster, Troy, with Brad Pitt, Eric Bana and Peter O’Toole. He then played the lead roles in Kingdom of Heaven and Elizabethtown (both in 2005). In 2006, Bloom starred in sequel Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, and the indie film Haven, of which he was executive producer. In the same year, was one of the guest stars in the series Extras, in which he played an arrogant narcissistic version of himself who had a great repugnance to Johnny Depp, (fellow film Pirates of the Caribbean); Bloom tried to Extras to go further by unsympathetic role, and contributed to the gag about admiring Depp out of sheer envy, that Depp was more talented than him, not to mention that Depp was on the lists of the 'most sexy'. Also in 2006, Bloom was the most searched in Google News. As of May 2007, Bloom appeared in four of the 15 highest grossing films of all time.
Bloom's recent film role is in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, released on May 24, 2007. Bloom, who had tried to become stage actor after graduating from the school of Music and Drama Guildhall, has said he would like to leave films for a while instead of appearing in stage roles, and "is looking eagerly for the correct media type in that he can do something " and go ‘back to basics.’ During in the summer of 2007, he appeared in a play by David Storey in the London revival In Celebration.
