Actress Anne Hathawaywas born in Brooklyn, New York, on November 12, 1982. She joined the Barrow Group theater company as a youngster. In 1999, she got her first big break on the television series Get Real. Soon after the series ended, Anne Hathaway took landed the role that made her famous, playing Mia in The Princess Diaries. The film scored big with audiences, earning approximately USD 108 million at the box office. In 2006, she found massive success with the film The Devil Wears Prada (2006). In 2007, she starred in Becoming Jane, a film about Jane Austen. She then garnered both critical & commercial attention for her role in Love & Other Drugs, due in no small part to her nude scenes in the film & went on to win acclaim or later film appearances, taking those in The Dark Knight Rises & Les Miserables.

Early Life & Career Breakthrough

As the daughter of an actress & a lawyer, Anne Hathaway grew up in New Jersey. She excelled at performing early on, becoming the first teenager accepted to The Barrow Group. In the film, Hathaway plays Fantine, a poor French lady who turns to prostitution to support her only child, Cosette. In 2013, she received a Golden Globe Award for her performance in Les Miserables.

Anne Hathaway began dating Italian real estate developer Raffaello Follieri in 2004. But the couple split in June of 2008. However, she married actor & jewelry designer Adam Shulman on September 29, 2012. The couple had been dating for 4 years at the time. In addition to acting, Anne Hathaway supports several charities, including the Step Up Women's Network & the Lollipop Theater Network.
