Investigators were able to trace the original publication of the photographs back to a website in London. One theory was that the photographs were obtained by hacking into Dieckmann’s computer. The actress filed a formal grievance and her lawyer requested that the inappropriate images be removed from the internet. This request was honored by Yahoo!, but not by Google, where the pictures are still accessible. In Carolina Dieckmann’s statement to police regarding this matter, she claimed that these photographs were being used to blackmail her.
