Irina Shayk (sometimes credited as Irina Sheik) was born Irina Shaykhlislamova on 6th January, 1986 in Yemanzhelinsk, Russia.

Irina’s mother was a teacher of music in a kindergarten & she wanted her daughter to study music as well. At the age of nine she entered a music school & studied there for seven years. She was singing in a choir & playing piano. Irina’s father was a coal miner & he died when Irina was a schoolgirl.

Irina Shayk has an elder sister, Tatiana. Irina’s mother had to work at two jobs to provide for the family. This was a very difficult time for the family however mother & daughters were always helping each other. Later than Irina finished school they moved to a bigger town.

The Russian beauty started studying marketing, but it was pretty boring for her & by chance (her mother saw an ad on a bus stop) Irina entered the local beauty school with her older sister. There she got noticed by a person from a local model agency (situated next door to the beauty school) noticed Irina & was struck by her unusual beauty.

 

At that time she won the contest of miss Chelyabinsk. A scout Guia Jikidze (he also spotted, Eugenia Volodina, Olga Sherer, Polina Kouklina, Natalia Vodianova, Elena Melnik, & many others) noticed her & told Irina Shayk that she should become a model.

Modeling career

Irina Shayk started modeling in Europe, & in 2005 she came to Paris. She started her career relatively late for a model, at the age of nineteen. It was very difficult for her, as she did not speak English at all & everything was new but soon Irina was working in Europe and USA & felt at ease during the most complicated shootings.

In 2007, the Russian bombshell took over for Brazilian model Ana Beatriz Barros as the face of Intimissimi. Since October 2010 Irina has been Intimissimi official global ambassador. Irina gained international recognition as a “rookie” in the annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.

Since 2007 she has appeared every year in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition & shooting in the most beautiful places such as Chile. Since St Petersburg, Grenada & Naples 2007 Irina Shayk’s work has been featured in major ad campaigns for Paciotti, Guess, La Perla, Lacoste, Otto, Armani Exchange, Germaine de Capuccini, Lascana Lingerie & Beach Bunny. She has also worked as a model for the Victoria’s Secret catalog. In November 2011 she was honored Prix de la Moda style award at Marie Claire Style Awards. Now Irina ranks in the “Top twenty Sexiest Models” list on Models.com. She appeared on the magazine covers of Bolero, Jalouse, Annabelle, & Woman.

Personal life

Irina Shayk has been linked to drummer Rob Bourdon (from American rockers Linkin Park). However since May 2010 she has been in a affiliation with football player Cristiano Ronaldo who she met at Emporio Armani photoshoot.
